ELECTRICAL CONNECTION STYLES
Several industry-standard arrangements are used for:
-
Motor lead-wire connection to the INTERNAL ends of
a terminal's pins |
-
Power supply wire connection to the EXTERNAL ends
of the terminal's pins |
CLUSTER-BLOCK
QUICK-CONNECT
STRAP & BLOCK
INTERNAL
EXTERNAL
| Each of these connection styles requires a different feature on
the end of the hermetic terminal's pins |
| CLUSTER-BLOCK |
| |
| This style does not require any additional component on the terminal
pins. The Vitrus terminal appears exactly as shown in the drawings
on the product family pages |
| |
| QUICK-CONNECT |
| |
| The "male" component of this connection arrangement
is welded to the ends of the terminal pins, as shown below. The
finish of this component can be selected to provide a "color
code" to identify if the terminal pins are solid stainless
steel or copper-cored stainless steel. (The "female" part
of this connection arrangement is supplied by the motor and compressor
manufacturers, crimped on the ends of the power supply and/or motor
wires.) |

| STRAP & BLOCK |
| |
| If heavy gauge power supply wiring is involved in the compressor
installation, this connection style is used. A "strap tab"
is welded to the external ends of the terminal pins, as shown below.
(The mating part, a plastic connector block with threaded inserts
and screws, is purchased separately.) |
